District 9
District 9 seems to be one more fantasy-filled movie, where the stereotypical alien invasion is retold, yet this is not the situation. Directed by Neill Blomkamp and produced by Peter Jackson, District 9 presents an extremely diminished alien population that has been forced to live in what seems to be shanty towns in South Africa. They are disregarded by the human society and are left to scavenge for food in any way possible. Yet, these seemingly under developed aliens are far from what they appear, creating a conflict between a highly intolerant human civilization and the rights they have to live in Earth. Moreover, their history is of an unknown origin, creating various questions that lead to the unraveling of the movie. I highly recommend this movie, giving it an 8/10. Although it does not count with any top of the line actors, they get the job done. This movie gives a twist to a controversial subject, do aliens exist? -Rafael Grados
