Modern Warfare 2

The online multiplayer component of Call of Duty 4 was a game on its own. Modern Warfare 2 tries to expand the legacy, by adding different features that we were wished by fans and some that were not. But does it all fit in balanced manner into the game?

The first drastic change the fans will notice is the new perks. Infinity ward did a good job of adding perks that fans of the first game were asking for. Bling, for example is a perk that let you have two attachments on your guns. However, some fan favorites from the first one are MIA. However, some of the classes you knew from the first game can still be recreated in this one, although no in its entirety.

Equipments are also a total different thing in this installment. Frag grenades have to be changed for Claymores (you only get one this time around by the way) and “Launchers” are considered second weapon and so are shotguns. So if you want to have that Javelin, you better drop that automatic shotgun.

That adds some balance to the game, but at the cost of not leaving much room for experimentation. For example you might want to wield only a shotgun and have some type of handgun or launcher as second weapon. You can’t! I liked the way the first game allowed you to exchange claymores (that’s two by the way, not only one. Boo!) by RPG’s, because they were equipments, but in this game, they consider an “anti grenade mask” (Don’t even ask)  equivalent of one claymore (That’s not even equal half a claymore)

All in all, it is more of the same killing and grinding everybody loved in the first game. And weapon attachments are cooler than ever; you can even use a thermal sight which allows you to see enemies in a white glowing heat vision. So if you liked the first game and the way it revolutionized online play, you’ll be bummed at first by this one, but soon you’ll be having too much fun to even remember what the first one was like.
